Course Content

Sei-ki is the art of contacting others with safe hands. When I (the practitioner) see you (the client), just the way you are, with no judgement, space opens up, flow resumes and health remembers itself. Always the beginners mind, it is a journey of unfolding into life, of meeting and recognising.

This workshop will serve as an introduction to anyone curious about Sei-ki and as a deepening for those with experience. It offers professional development through skill in touch, timing and placement; inseparable from the personal development required of the mature practitioner.

We will be working with the disciplines of observation, touch and receiving with an emphasis on experience.

Course objectives

• Participants will understand the basics of Sei-ki touch including timing and hand placement and be able to put these basics into practice.
• Participants will understand the core principles of Sei-ki, such as syo-diagnosis and no-force, and know how to proceed in developing these principles in sessions.
• Participants will understand some key points in the history of Sei-ki to help put it in the context of touch therapy and western medicine.

Target Group

Sei-ki is in the Shiatsu tradition but, over the years people from a wide variety of backgrounds have explored it. Manual therapists interested in exploring the art of touch from a different perspective to the medical model are welcome.
